Tinubu appoints Folashade Adekaiyaoja as DSS deputy DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Folashade Arinola Adekaiyaoja as Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Department of State Services (DSS), marking a historic move that has drawn widespread commendation from both serving and retired DSS officers.
This groundbreaking approval, the first of its kind by any Nigerian president, is aimed at enhancing the professionalism and operational structure of the DSS.
The appointment also aligns with the agency’s original organogram, which provides for three Deputy Directors General to support the Director General (DG).
According to sources within the security service, the appointment was recommended by the DG of DSS through the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. Observers within the agency hailed the decision as a significant step toward improving efficiency and career progression.
Adekaiyaoja, a highly respected native of Kogi State, is regarded as eminently qualified for her new role. Her appointment reflects President Tinubu’s broader strategy to strengthen national security, a key priority since assuming office.
A senior security source disclosed that the president had earlier directed heads of security agencies to propose measures for improved service delivery. Based on this directive, Tinubu approved the DG’s recommendation, a move many believe will inspire confidence and boost morale within the DSS.
The appointment of Adekaiyaoja is being celebrated as a positive shift that will promote professionalism and career growth in Nigeria’s foremost intelligence service.
