King Raji speaks on El-Rufai’s fallout with party, suggests possible return

Prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Raji Yunusa, popularly known as King Raji, has weighed in on the ongoing political tensions surrounding former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday , January 29, King Raji described El-Rufai as a highly respected politician whose contributions to the APC were instrumental in weakening the long-standing dominance of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015. According to him, El-Rufai’s strategic role in that pivotal election helped solidify the APC’s hold on power, with lasting effects still visible today.
However, Raji noted that El-Rufai’s relationship with the ruling party soured due to his rift with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, as well as the controversial withdrawal of his ministerial nomination. He clarified that the decision to rescind El-Rufai’s appointment was not solely President Bola Tinubu’s, but also a result of the Senate confirmation process, where Kaduna’s opposition senators played a significant role.

With El-Rufai’s ministerial bid effectively blocked, speculations have continued to swirl regarding his political future. While some believe his influence in the APC has diminished, King Raji insists that the former governor remains a valuable asset to the party. He emphasized El-Rufai’s deep understanding of the political landscape and ability to work effectively within a team, suggesting that his return to the APC fold could be beneficial for all parties involved.
As the political climate in Kaduna and within the APC continues to evolve, Nigerians are awaiting El-Rufai’s next move and whether he could make a political comeback within the ruling party.
