Abia 2027: Ex-Minister thanks stakeholders over calls to contest

Former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, has appreciated stakeholders and people of Abia state for calling on him to join the governorship contest in 2027.
Ikoh, who is also the Chairman Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, assured he would not betray the people of Abia state come 2027.
In a statement Thursday in Abuja, the former minister said God would select the right governor to lead the state in 2027.
“While I reflect on your patriotic desires, it is important for us to note that power belongs to God and only you reserve the right to choose leader,” he said.
Ikoh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said that he would make his intentions about the state governorship election known to the people after consultations with critical stakeholders.
“Sincerely I express my gratitude for the encouraging and inspiring calls from our traditional rulers, the numerous consistent request from our APC party faithfuls, elder statesmen, business moguls, traders, students, workers and civil society groups who kept urging me to join the APC governorship primary race for 2027.
“I hereby assure you all that the trust and confidence bestowed on me will be treasured and shall not be betrayed,” he added, stressing that traditional rulers, APC members, traders, students and civil society groups have been requesting him to run for the election.
“The call for me to contest the party primaries is a confirmation of the people’s belief in my ability to render a selfless service for the progress and development of Abia State.
“For those of us yearning for a more prosperous Abia State, be assured that I have taking note of your wishes and prayers and as your humble servant, I promise to consider your request and to make known my formal decision after necessary consultations with my family members and critical stakeholders in Abia State at the appropriate time,” he said.
