Details have emerged from the emergency meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), which was held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
The meeting, convened to address pressing internal issues, resulted in key resolutions aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future political battles.
A major decision from the meeting was the official recognition of Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the PDP’s National Secretary. This move aligns with a judgment from the High Court of Enugu, which was later upheld by the Court of Appeal. The BoT directed the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately swear in Udeh-Okoye in compliance with the court ruling, urging all party members and stakeholders to respect the legal verdict.
The board also commended the PDP Governors’ Forum, the NWC, and the South-East Executive Committee for their efforts in upholding the party’s constitution despite ongoing legal battles over the National Secretary position.
Additionally, the BoT approved the next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for March 13, 2025, viewing it as a crucial platform for discussions that will shape the party’s future direction.
During the meeting, a vote of confidence was passed on BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and Secretary, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, recognizing their role in maintaining stability within the party.
The BoT further emphasized the need for unity among members, calling on all stakeholders to work together in repositioning the PDP as a formidable political force in the country.
