The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) is seeking partnership with Federal Ministry of Livestock.

The Acting Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche MFR mni, made this known during his visit to the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Dr. Idi Mukhtar Maiha.

The visit aimed to explore groundbreaking collaboration between the NCoS and the Ministry, with a focus on harnessing the Service’s farm lands into viable economic hubs.

The Corrections farms are part of the Service’s reformatory efforts, providing inmates with a lifetime opportunity for rehabilitation upon discharge.

During the meeting, the Ag. CGC congratulated Dr. Maiha on his appointment as the pioneer Minister of the Ministry and thanked him for the warm reception.

He also presented an overview of the NCoS agricultural projects and production activities across the country, seeking strategic partnership with the Ministry to reposition the farm centers for greater productivity.

Dr. Maiha expressed delight in the partnership, stating that the NCoS agricultural assets offer a unique opportunity for growth, with secured farmlands and available labor.

He congratulated the Ag. CGC on his visionary leadership and pledged the Ministry’s support towards actualizing the mandates of the Service through the strategic partnership.

This development is expected to boost the Nigerian agricultural sector, while also providing a fresh start for inmates upon their release.
