Ahead of Manchester City’s clash against Premier League leaders Liverpool, Guardiola said winter-signing Omar Marmoush can prove himself against his Egyptian compatriot Mohamed Salah.

34-year-old winger. Salah has continuously dominated in the English top flight, even more so this season as he counts 29 goals and 20 assists in 37 matches for Slot’s side.

Marmoush, who joined the defending Premier League champions in January from Eintracht Frankfurt, is still far from reaching the levels of his Egypt compatriot but has sparked buzz among City supporters with his 14-minute hat trick against Newcastle last week.

According to ‘The Times’, the 26-year-old’s shirt has already become one of the most popular purchases in Man City’s official shop along with that of Haaland, De Bruyne, Foden and Rodri. As the ‘Egyptian King’ and the ‘Pharaoh’ prepare to play each other at the Etihad, City’s Egyptian fanbase has seemingly already grown by over 25%.

“Omar is coming here to prove himself. Omar has done unbelievably in Germany. His performance will dictate the level,” Guardiola said about the No.7 striker. With Haaland remaining a doubt for the clash, Marmoush will be hoping to capitalise on the opportunity to hand Liverpool a setback in their title charge.
