Tinubu signs N54.99 trillion 2025 budget into law

President Bola Tinubu has officially signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a record-breaking N54.99 trillion budget.
This represents a staggering 99.96% increase from the N27.5 trillion budget for 2024.
The National Assembly had initially adjusted Tinubu’s original budget proposal of N49.7 trillion before passing the revised N54.99 trillion plan on February 13, 2025.
Key Highlights of the 2025 Budget:
Total Expenditure: N54.99 trillion
Statutory Transfers: N3.65 trillion
Recurrent (Non-Debt) Expenditure: N13.64 trillion
Capital Expenditure: N23.96 trillion
Debt Servicing: N14.32 trillion
Deficit-to-GDP Ratio: 1.52%
With this record budget, the Tinubu administration aims to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure, and address key national priorities. However, concerns remain over the significant debt servicing allocation, which accounts for a substantial portion of government spending.
