Nigeria’s annual nursing enrollment has soared from 28,000 to 115,000, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare and education sectors.

The surge is attributed to the Federal Government’s renewed focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical Sciences (STEMM) and its commitment to revitalizing the education and health sectors under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the increased enrollment capacity is expected to position Nigeria to meet domestic and global demands for qualified healthcare professionals.

Speaking on the achievement, Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, praised stakeholders, industry leaders, the Nigerian Council of Nurses and Midwifery, teaching hospitals, and Ministry staff for their contributions towards this great feat.

“This increased enrollment capacity signals a transformative era for nursing education in Nigeria,” Dr. Alausa said.

The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the nation’s healthcare system and providing quality education.

The Coordinating Minister of Health & Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, also commended the efforts of all parties involved in achieving this milestone.
