Verydarkman: Deji Adeyanju questions Femi Falana’s silence amid growing controversy

The arrest of social media critic and influencer, VeryDarkman (VDM), continues to stir public debate, with fresh questions now directed at prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), over his silence on the matter.

VDM was recently arrested by security operatives in Abuja under circumstances that remain unclear. Adding fuel to the controversy, reports surfaced alleging that popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, may have been involved in the arrest—a claim that has since triggered online speculation and backlash.

In a recent development, VDM’s legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, took to social media to express disappointment over Falana’s perceived lack of action. Drawing a comparison to a previous case during the Muhammadu Buhari administration, Adeyanju recalled how he publicly defended an individual who had previously wronged him when that person was unlawfully detained.

“Our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN, is yet to condemn the arrest of VDM. Interesting times indeed!” Adeyanju wrote. “When the boy that led people to attack me under Buhari became a victim under the same Buhari and was arrested, I was the first person to condemn it.”

Observers have noted the complex history between VDM and the Falana family. During the recent EFCC controversy involving Bobrisky and allegations of naira mutilation, VDM released an audio clip implicating Femi Falana, his son, rapper Falz, and the EFCC—an action that drew significant backlash.

In response, Falana demanded a public apology and retraction from VDM, describing the claims as defamatory and unfounded.

As public scrutiny intensifies, many are watching to see whether Falana will eventually break his silence on the latest developments surrounding VDM’s detention. Meanwhile, calls for the influencer’s release continue to gain momentum online, with many questioning the legal grounds for his arrest and the role of celebrity influence in law enforcement actions.
