The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, continues to receive accolades as he tours the North West to assess operations, personnel welfare, and inter-agency collaborations.

During his visit to Sokoto State, the Executive Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, commended the CG for the transformation witnessed in the NSCDC under his leadership, especially in the fight against insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping, and other crimes.

“I must sincerely commend Dr. Audi for his passion and pragmatic leadership style,” Governor Aliyu said. “The transformation within the NSCDC is visible and impactful. The level of professionalism, dedication, and discipline displayed by your men in Sokoto is worthy of emulation.”

The Governor pledged continued support to the Corps, stating,

“Our government will ceaselessly ensure that logistic provisions are made for security agencies, including the NSCDC, to strengthen the fight against crime and criminality in the State.”

In response, CG Audi noted that his tour of the geopolitical zone was essential for understanding the realities on the ground.

“This operational tour is necessary to engage with our officers, assess their performance, understand their challenges, and take informed decisions that will further enhance our efficiency,” he said.

He reaffirmed that under his watch, personnel welfare remains a top priority.

“Upon assumption of office, I made the welfare and wellbeing of our officers a cornerstone of my leadership. This tour is proof of that commitment. I am not an armchair CG,” he stressed.

“By coming here, I hope to inspire our officers to remain professional and uphold the regimental discipline that defines our Corps.”

The CG also visited the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, and the Headquarters of Operation Fansan Yamma, where he was warmly received by Major General A.I. Ajose, the General Officer Commanding and Commander of the operation.

Major General Ajose briefed the CG on joint operations, achievements, and current security challenges.

“The synergy between our forces and the NSCDC is critical to our success. We are glad to have a CG who is deeply involved in field operations and inter-agency coordination,” he said.

As part of his tour, Dr. Audi paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, President General of the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

The Sultan praised the strides made by the NSCDC, stating,

“Your Corps has evolved over the years and is now playing a significant role in national security. Nigerians are beginning to see the value and impact of your service.”

He expressed optimism that Nigeria’s security situation would improve, attributing current challenges to wider global trends.

“No country is immune from insecurity in today’s world,” the Sultan noted. “But I believe with men like you leading security agencies, Nigeria will overcome its challenges.”

The Sultan further called on the Federal Government to boost NSCDC’s capacity.

“The government must not relent in equipping the Corps with modern tools and training to enhance its performance,” he added.

“You are doing well; please, keep up the good work.”

The CG’s North West tour reflects his administration’s emphasis on operational effectiveness, personnel welfare, and inter-agency collaboration — key pillars in delivering the Corps’ statutory mandate to protect critical infrastructure and maintain internal security.
