Wike finally addresses Abuja blast, reveals what really happened

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted widespread rumours suggesting that the recent explosion near Nyanya, Abuja, was the result of a suicide bombing.
Addressing the media during a project inspection in the capital on Wednesday, Wike provided clarity on the incident, explaining that the explosion was caused by an accidental detonation of explosive material.
According to the minister, the blast occurred after a man unknowingly picked up an explosive device from a quarry site. The device later went off, triggering panic and speculation across social media and local communities.
Wike stressed that the incident had no connection to terrorism or any suicide bombing attempt, urging the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could incite fear or tension.
