Liverpool remain confident over Wirtz despite rejected €130m bid

Liverpool remain confident of securing Florian Wirtz this summer as a fresh round of negotiations is scheduled for this week.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been identified as the Reds’ top target as manager Arne Slot looks to strengthen the squad that delivered a Premier League title in his first season at Anfield.
The club remain optimistic about reaching an agreement soon, despite reports from Germany claiming that the club’s record bid has been rejected. The offer, reportedly worth €130 million, fell short of the Germans’ valuation, with the Bundesliga side holding out for €150 million.
However, sources suggest that the gap between the two clubs could be bridged through performance-related add-ons, keeping the deal very much alive.
Leverkusen are understood to be preparing for the player’s departure, indicating their willingness to negotiate terms that satisfy both parties.
Liverpool’s eagerness to complete the signing highlights their intent to build on last season’s success and maintain momentum under Slot’s guidance.
