Access Bank’s valentine loan promo sparks hilarious reactions online

With just days to Valentine’s Day, Access Bank has stirred laughter online with its latest promotional message encouraging customers to take out loans to “fund their romance.”
In a message sent to its customers, the bank urged them to dial *901*11# for an instant loan, stating, “The race to Valentine’s Day is on! Get an instant loan now to be ready for Valentine’s Day.”
The unexpected campaign quickly caught the attention of social media users, with many finding it both amusing and surprising. Among those who reacted was Abuja-based journalist and media consultant Mike Oche, who couldn’t hide his amusement. He shared his thoughts on the message, writing:
“Joke of the day is Access Bank sending me message to come take loan to fund Valentine romance .”
His reaction has since raised an unanswered questioning whether Valentine’s Day expenses should warrant taking a loan. While some found the marketing strategy hilarious, others expressed concerns about banks encouraging borrowing for non-essential spending.
As the countdown to February 14 continues, Access Bank’s loan promo has undoubtedly added a humorous twist to the season of love, leaving many debating whether romance should come at a financial cost.
