Armed robber killed, 3 arrested in Ebonyi

Troops from the Nkwagu Military Cantonment on Monday, neutralized an armed robber in a confrontation that occurred along the Afikpo-Abakaliki Highway, specifically in the Akpoha/Abaomege area of Onicha Local Government Area.
Three persons allegedly associated with the group accused of terrorizing motorists in the area were also apprehended by the authorities.
According to report, the individuals in question were allegedly members of a group suspected of perpetrating disturbances and harassing individuals in the area.
The Afikpo-Abakaliki Highway in Ebonyi State is the easiest route for travellers coming to Abakaliki (the Ebonyi State capital) from Imo and Abia states.
Our correspondent gathered that luck ran out of the suspects Monday morning when the soldiers swooped on them, killing one and getting three others arrested.
A trending video watched by our correspondent showed travellers and natives praising the gallantry of the soldiers as they were taking arrested suspects away while another was seen lying fatally wounded.
State police spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated that his office had received a report on the incident, but it lacked sufficient information. He is currently awaiting further details from the Divisional Police Officer overseeing the Abaomege Division.
He said, “I’ve not been able to get anything conclusive, the DPO for Abaomege confirmed getting information on that, but doesn’t have details. So, I don’t have any details to give.”
