Armed robbers shot, rob FRSC officer in Kogi

A road safety officer, identified as Abu, was ambushed by armed robbers on Friday in Zango, Lokoja, Kogi State, as he walked back to his residence after visiting a bank.
Abu was shot multiple times and had an unknown amount of money taken from him by the robbers.
An eyewitness reported that the armed robbers tailed the officer, who was riding a motorcycle, from the bank to Phase One Lokongoma, near the Lokongoma market.
“He was double-crossed by the armed robbers and they started dragging the cross bag containing large sums of money with him and in the process shot him three times in both legs and shoulder,” the source stated.
William Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, told our correspondent that police officers received a distress call at 1:30 pm and rushed to the scene, where they found Abu severely injured, having been shot in both legs and the shoulder, and lying in a pool of blood.
“He was coming from the bank when a Toyota Camry Ash colour car accosted him and blocked him right in front of Lokongoma market, Phase One in Lokoja, and was disposed of an unspecified sum of money,” he said.
Aya reported that N139,000 was found at the scene, and the victim was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
