Popular Nigerian content creator and skit maker Brain Jotter has expressed profound sadness over the death of legendary highlife musician Mike ‘Gentleman’ Ejeagha, who passed away on Friday night after a long battle with prostate cancer.
In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Saturday, Brain Jotter reminisced about his 2024 visit to the late icon’s home in Enugu, sharing a touching throwback video of their encounter. The video captures a warm and memorable moment between the skit maker and the celebrated musician, whose timeless hit ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’ recently enjoyed a resurgence in popularity.
“39 years ago, he made magic with ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo.’ 39 years later, we danced to it again. Now, he rests, but his melody lives forever. Rest in peace, legend,” Brain Jotter wrote, paying tribute to Ejeagha’s lasting influence on Nigerian music.
Originally released in 1983, ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’ witnessed a remarkable revival last year after Brain Jotter featured the song in a viral dance challenge.
