Breaking: Appeal Court overturns Lokoja High Court order against EFCC

Hon. Justice Joseph O.K. Oyewole of Court of Appeal has overturned Lokoja High Court order preventing the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) from arresting for former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello.
The court on Friday granted the EFCC’s motion for a stay of execution and proceedings in a contempt case, pending before the Kogi State High Court.
The court held that the motion exparte had merit and adjourned the hearing of the motion on notice to May 20, 2024.
It also ordered substituted service of all processes in the case to be pasted at Yahaya Bello’s last known address in Abuja.
This decision is a significant victory for the EFCC and its Chairman, as it halts the contempt proceedings against them and allows the appeal to proceed.
The case is EFCC vs. Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Appeal No: CA/ABJ/CV/413/2024.
