Breaking: Police stop SSANU, NASU protest in Abuja

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday stopped the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) from staging a planned protest in Abuja.
JAC leaders while addressing their members at the Unity Fountain, FCT Commissioner of Police Benneth Igwe intervened, stating that no protest would be allowed.
Police officers quickly blocked the entry and exit gates with an armored vehicle and a Hilux van, effectively stopping the protest. Despite attempts by union leaders to negotiate, the police remained firm in their decision.
