Breaking: Sanusi defies police order, holds Sallah Durbar

Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has gone ahead with the traditional celebration of the Sallah Durbar despite police order against it.
The Emir is leading a procession through the city.
Earlier, Sanusi had led Eid prayers and a sermon at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at mosque, which was attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other cabinet members.
The prayers were held at the mosque due to heavy rain that flooded the Eid ground.
The Emir, riding a horse, took the usual route back home, stopping to receive greetings and homage from individuals and groups along the way.
The Kano Police Command had announced a ban on Sallah Durbar after a joint security meeting, citing security concerns. However, Governor Yusuf in a swift response expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, stating that the police did not consult him, the Chief Security Officer of the State, before making the announcement.
