Breaking: Tinubu reshuffles cabinet, abolishes 2 ministries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a significant reshuffle of his cabinet during an ongoing Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
In a sweeping decision, the FEC approved the abolition of the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development, while laying the groundwork for new administrative structures.
As part of the reorganization, a newly established Ministry of Regional Development will now oversee all regional development commissions. This includes the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission. The move aims to centralize the administration and enhance regional growth efforts under a single umbrella.
In a bid to streamline the management of sports in Nigeria, the responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development will be transferred to the National Sports Commission. This shift is expected to bring greater focus and specialized management to the nation’s sports affairs.
Additionally, the FEC has approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, creating a unified entity to drive Nigeria’s cultural and tourism sectors.
