Court remands ex-Oyo PMS boss, Auxiliary over alleged murder

Mukaila Lamidi, the former Oyo State Park Management System (PMS) Chairman, also known as Auxiliary, has been detained in Agodi Correctional Centre by the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over alleged murder.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi directed the 63-year-old defendant’s remand citing lack of jurisdiction, pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The case is adjourned until July 11.
According to CSP Funke Fawole, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Department of the Police, Oyo State Command, represented by Mr. Tope Olayinka, said Lamidi faces a four-count charge including conspiracy, causing death, and stealing.
Fawole noted that Lamidi and associates allegedly caused the death of Azeez Rahman Abiodun, 36, by stabbing him on June 16, 2021, and also stole assorted phones worth N150 million belonging to Azeez Hammed Adebayo, at Baba-Onilu Shopping Complex, Iwo Road area of Ibadan.
The charges laid against Lamidi are in violation of Sections 383 and 316 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
