Delta Assembly confirms 6 commissioner-nominees

The Delta State House of Assembly, on Thursday, approved six nominees selected by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to serve as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
The following individuals were screened and confirmed: Sunday Tataobuozogwu, former Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area; Peter Uviejitobir, former member of the Assembly representing Udu State Constituency; Val Arenyenka; Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod; Ebikeme Clark; and Smart Ijeoma Ufoh.
Okocha Benjamin, who allegedly turned down the appointment, was replaced by Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, whose nomination was officially announced during the plenary session.
Ufoh’s nomination was contained in a letter addressed to the House by the governor, and read by the Speaker, Hon Emomotimi Guwor.
After completing the confirmation process, the House of Assembly adjourned for a five-week break, marking the beginning of the recess in the second session of the 8th Assembly.
Guwor said, “The long recess is to enable the lawmakers to fraternise with their constituents, as well as strategies for the overall development of the House.”
