Emirship: Falana queries nullification of Sanusi’s reinstatement

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has queried the legal grounds for the nullification of Sanusi Lamido’s reinstatement as Emir.
According to Falana, the court’s ruling on the nullification of Sanusi’s reinstatement as Emir is confusing.
He explains that the repeal law which the court said it cannot declare invalid, empowers the state governor to reinstate Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
He said this during an interview with Arise TV shared on Friday, June 21.
Falana said: “What the court did say is that, the order made by him, on the 24th of May, which according to him was served on the 1st and 4th defendant, i.e. the governor and the attorney general on the 27th of May, they were deemed to have had knowledge of the order because the order was reported on social media.
“Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was not said to have disobeyed any order, so if the order affected them, it ought to have been put on notice.
“But what the court is saying, ‘I cannot declare invalid the repeal law made by the House of Assembly’, and that repeal law empowers the governor to reinstate Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
“So the order is a bit confusing.”
