EPL: Newcastle battle Liverpool in 6-goal thriller

Newcastle United and Liverpool battled to a thrilling 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park, with the match delivering drama until the final whistle.
Newcastle took an early lead in the 35th minute when Alexander Isak converted a pinpoint assist from Bruno Guimarães, setting the home crowd alight.
The Magpies held their advantage going into halftime as Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm.
The second half, however, saw the visitors roar back into the contest.
Curtis Jones brought Liverpool level in the 50th minute, capitalising on a clever setup by Mohamed Salah. The joy for Liverpool was short-lived as Anthony Gordon restored Newcastle’s lead in the 62nd minute, assisted by Isak.
But Liverpool’s resilience shone through. Mohamed Salah, in scintillating form, equalised in the 68th minute with help from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The duo combined again just minutes later, with Salah netting his second of the game in the 83rd minute to give Liverpool a 3-2 lead.
The drama was far from over. Deep into stoppage time, Fabian Schär salvaged a point for Newcastle, finishing another assist from Guimarães in the 90th minute.
Despite a late yellow card for Newcastle’s goalkeeper Nick Pope, the match ended in a well-earned 3-3 draw.
The match was not without controversy and tension. A flurry of yellow cards was issued, with notable bookings for Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Núñez, as well as Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali.
