Family announces burial arrangements for late chief Ayo Adebanjo

The family of late elder statesman and nationalist, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has announced that his burial will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Adebanjo, a revered political figure and advocate for democracy, was born on April 10, 1928, and passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96.
According to a statement released by his family on Monday, the funeral rites will commence with a Day of Tributes and Service of Songs on Wednesday, April 30, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A wake will follow on Friday, May 2, at his country home in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The final burial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., after which he will be laid to rest.
A Thanksgiving Service will also be held at the same venue on Sunday, May 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Adebanjo family expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of support and prayers, inviting well-wishers to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of the late elder statesman.
“We covet your prayers for the family and your professional support as we continue preparations to give him a most befitting burial,” the statement read. “We also look forward to your esteemed presence at all the events. Please accept the assurances of our highest regards.”
Chief Ayo Adebanjo was a pillar of Nigeria’s political landscape, leaving behind a rich legacy of advocacy, leadership, and service to the nation.
