Fire razes popular Abuja market, 40 Shops ravaged

A catastrophic fire swept through a section of the bustling Kaura Market in Abuja’s Kaura District on Friday night, leaving a trail of destruction. The inferno, which began around 11 pm, consumed approximately 40 shops, causing significant losses for traders.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and officials from the FCT Fire Service and Emergency Management Department were unavailable for comment at the time of reporting.
Eyewitnesses and traders expressed frustration over the delayed response of the FCT Fire Service, which allegedly allowed the fire to spread, exacerbating the damage.
The market, located opposite the Prince and Princess Estate, is a hub of commercial activity, and the fire has dealt a severe blow to the livelihoods of many traders.
Further details are forthcoming as authorities investigate the incident and assess the extent of the damage.
