Foundation donates borehole to Kogi community

The Yusuf John-Suberu Foundation has donated a borehole for the Iruvochinomi community of Adavi Local Government Area (LGA) Kogi state.

A statement by the Executive Director, Dr Yusuf Suberu on Thursday in Abuja said the facility donated would help the community meet their water needs.

Suberu said that the community was considered because of its peculiar water challenge and spirit of community development shown by the people through their self-help projects.

He said that the residents were left with rivers and concrete wells as the only source of water which were constantly exposed to dirt and susceptible to bacterial pollution.

He however, said that the aim of the foundation was to save the people of some villages from water-borne diseases adding that the facility was very crucial in saving lives.

He added that the foundation’s generous contribution to the community was an expression of her commitment to enriching the lives of people living in the community.

Suberu believed that everyone could demonstrate the power to uplift others through those little things been done.

According to him, the foundation pursues a Sustainable Development Goals, one of which is the provision of clean water for all.

“There had been acute water scarcity especially in the community for some time. This is our own way of giving back to the community.

“We are pleased to provide these boreholes, especially to this community faced with serious water challenge.

“This community is filled with the most vulnerable population that lack access to good water which is one of the world’s precious resources to humanity.

“Money shouldn’t only be given in exchange for desired services. This is why we provided the borehole water for the Iruvochinomi community to relieve the beneficiaries from extreme water challenges, “he said.

Suberu called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the foundation, saying it had provided support to Nigerians across different regions for many years.

He urged spirited individuals to collaborate more with the government in efforts to provide drinkable and portable water for other communities with the challenge.

He also urged leaders of various organisations to delegate certain funds to support a special project in their various communities.

This, he said could be through volunteering services, community services, books to less privileged kids in public schools among others.
