Foundation seeks novel approach in tackling insecurity in FCT


The Dr Yusuf John-Suberu Foundation has advocated for the need to adopt a novel approach in tackling security challenges facing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the country at large.
The Executive Director of the Foundation, Dr Yusuf John-Suberu, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
John-Suberu stressed the need for the Nigerian government to tackle the issue of insecurity holistically, employing every necessary tactics and strategies to avert the scourge.
He said that the rising security threats necessitated a more proactive and all-encompassing approach in addressing them.
He commended the effort of the FCT Minister, Sen. Nyesom Wike in tackling the menace through a joint operation which he said yielded positive results
According to him, the security situation, even though worrisome, our foundation still commend the on-going efforts of the FCT Minister.
“However, security is everyone’s responsibility.
“An attack can start in any part of the country, therefore, the need for collaboration to stop it.
“It is so sad when considering such a situation about insecurity, poverty; people think we must largely depend on the government to solely tackle myriads of problems in the society.
“We are all government; we only have leaders, but we need to help each other, educate one person and you have done a lot for a family, “he said.
John-Suberu, who is also the Squadron Leader, Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) charged statutory bodies to facilitate a robust security support mechanism working with key security professionals and youths.
This, he said would further enhanced the security of lives and property across the country.
He assured Nigerians that insecurity in FCT and Nigeria as a whole would be curbed to the barest minimum through the renewed hope administration of President Bola Tinubu.
