Fufu dragging size with Panadol, by Andrew Agbese

The latest discovery in the Nigerian market is that fufu, which used to be the size of a shot put ball, don dey drag size with egg.
It has been established by many that restaurants and mama puts have reduced the size of the fufu they serve customers, to something not bigger than the egg of chicken.
Egg fa!
I had cause to ask a girl who served me at an Abuja restaurant recently, if they used an orange to measure the size of gari on my plate.
I thought I was being targeted until I started seeing posts about how fufu is dragging size with eggs in the social media which means I was even lucky to get an orange-size.
This is a serious matter because if we allow the size of fufu to continue its downward slide against the egg, then many Nigerians would be moving about with empty stomachs.
Currently, according to a market survey, it will require more than six egg-sized wraps of fufu to fill up the ‘tank’ of the average Nigerian.
This is funny but it’s not a laughing matter because an angry man is the ‘cousin brother’ to a hungry man.
The consumer protection agency needs to intervene before fufu would start dragging size with panadol tablets.
If that happens then I’d join Patrick Obahiagbon to describe the Nigerian situation as a crinkum crankum case of kungaga tuangaga!
