The Kumo community in Akko local government area of Gombe State has erupted in joy as it celebrates the establishment of a new Federal Medical Centre in the town.
The centre which was previously a hospital built by the Gombe State government, was recently taken over by the federal government and upgraded to a medical centre.
During a grand celebration organised by the Kumo emirate, the emir of Akko, Umar Atiku, lauded the project, describing it as a great development for the community.
He urged the youth to focus on education and mortality, emphasising the importance of the medical centre in promoting healthcare in the area.
Also speaking, the speaker of the Gombe State Assembly, Abubakar Luggerewo, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his administration’s efforts in improving healthcare in the state.
Luggerewo praised the governor for building the hospital, which has now been transformed into a federal medical centre.
The speaker also tasked the governor to prioritise the employment of local residents during the recruitment process for the medical centre, ensuring that the benefits of the project extend to the local community.
