Hisbah board bans sports betting in Kano

The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced a total ban on all forms of sports betting within the state.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Commander-General of the board, Dr. Mujaheed Aminuddeen, during a press briefing where he outlined the board’s renewed commitment to combating immorality.
As part of the crackdown, Dr. Aminuddeen revealed that the Hisbah has re-launched its “Operation Flush Out Immorality,” with plans to target individuals and groups violating the state’s moral code.
In a bid to restore discipline and social order, the Hisbah warned landlords against renting out properties to unknown persons. This comes amid rising concerns over residential houses being converted into lodges and motels across Kano.
Additionally, new regulations have been introduced to govern courtship in the state. Henceforth, prospective couples will be prohibited from sitting in tinted vehicles, especially at night, during their courtship.
Street begging, particularly by women, will also be targeted under the new directive. Dr. Aminuddeen stated that female beggars found outdoors late at night will be arrested, alongside women seen riding tricycles after 10 p.m., as part of the board’s efforts to combat the rising trend of prostitution.
The Hisbah deputy commander-general warned that anyone found violating these new rules would face serious penalties. He further called on parents to be vigilant, especially with their daughters, to ensure they do not engage in any behavior that could lead to legal consequences.
The Hisbah board remains firm in its stance against all forms of immorality in Kano, urging residents to comply with the new directives for the betterment of the society.
