Huijsen ready to shine at Real Madrid

Dean Huijsen has reflected in an interview with AS on everything his move to Real Madrid has meant.
The centre-back has shown excitement about his new stage and confessed that Sergio Ramos is his great role model.
Dean Huijsen is one of the names of the season. After a brilliant campaign with Bournemouth, Real Madrid have decided to bet big on him to strengthen their defence. A signing that is a dream come true for the centre-back, who these days will fight with Spain’s shirt to win the Nations League.
“I’m grateful to everyone who made the signing possible, to Florentino, the sporting directors and all the people involved. I’m delighted,” the defender said in an interview with AS.
The young Real Madrid player admitted feeling a bit overwhelmed by events as he never imagined being at one of the big European clubs so soon. “I planned to spend two years at Bournemouth, develop there and then see what to do. But everything has gone very fast, faster than expected,” he noted.
About his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, Huijsen revealed he has already had some talks with Xabi Alonso. “We’ve talked a bit about what he had in mind and the project. We want to win again, and we’re sure we will. He wants me to help the team with ball progression,” he said before talking about his future teammates.
“I only personally knew Asencio, but I’m eager to meet everyone. I’ve spoken to quite a few by message. About six or seven have already welcomed me. I’m excited to play with the best. Mbappe, Rodrygo, Bellingham, Vinicius and all the forwards are among the best in the world,” he assured.
Finally, Huijsen also made clear who his role model is. “My biggest idol is Sergio Ramos, for me he was the most complete — leadership, personality, goals, character — and I aspire to be like him,” he confessed.
