A group of Igbo women from Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State took to the streets in protest against the continuous attacks by suspected herdsmen in their communities.

During the demonstration, which took place yesterday, the women lamented the worsening security situation, alleging that their farmlands had been taken over, leaving them and their families in hunger. They also accused the attackers of subjecting them to sexual violence, inserting objects into victims’ private parts, and brutally assaulting their husbands and sons.

Chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards, the protesters called on the Enugu State government to urgently intervene and restore peace to their communities.

“We are going hungry because we cannot go to the farm. They beat our husbands and sons, and they are sleeping with our women forcefully,” one of the protesters cried out.

The protest highlights the growing concerns over insecurity in the region, with residents demanding swift action from authorities to curb the menace. As of the time of this report, the Enugu State government has yet to issue an official response.
