In Nasarawa, Sule suspends TSC boss, others

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has suspended the Chairman and members of the State Teachers Service Commission (TSC) following revelations of unauthorized recruitment of over 1,000 additional teachers beyond the approved quota.
The controversy erupted after Governor Sule earlier authorized the recruitment of 1,000 teachers and directed the payment of their entitlements. However, widespread public complaints of unpaid salaries sparked concerns, prompting the governor to take swift action.
In response to the outcry, Governor Sule convened an emergency meeting on Monday at the Government House in Lafia, bringing together officials from the TSC, the State Ministry of Education, and the Commissioner for Education to investigate the matter.
During the meeting, TSC officials admitted to exceeding the approved recruitment figure by hiring over 2,000 teachers without obtaining the necessary approval.
Expressing disappointment over the unauthorized action, Governor Sule immediately suspended the TSC Chairman and all commission members. He further ordered the establishment of a committee to thoroughly investigate the illegal recruitment process and submit a detailed report for further action.
