In Yobe, ex-Senate President shares fertilizers, hand sprayers to farmers

President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, is set to distribute bags of fertilizers and hand sprayers to farmers across the 60 electoral wards in Yobe North Senatorial District, on Saturday.
The distribution is part of Senator Lawan’s ongoing efforts to support farmers and boost agricultural productivity.
The fertilizers and hand sprayers totaling 3,200 will be distributed through the Ward Distribution Committees.
The distribution by Ward Committees on the other hand will be monitored by members of a constituted Committee in the six local government areas.
Membership comprises of the six Local Government Chairmen; Chairman and Secretary of the Local Government Farmers’ Association in each LGA; and six Coordinators from the Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (SAIL) Foundation.
Senator Lawan, in a statement on Friday, emphasized the importance of agriculture as the mainstay of the Nigerian economy.
He stated that the distribution of fertilizers and hand sprayers would empower farmers and enable them to increase their yields.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and the distribution of fertilizers and hand sprayers are part of efforts to support our farmers to ensure food security and economic prosperity for our people,” Senator Lawan said.
The distribution of fertilizers and hand sprayers is part of Senator Lawan’s comprehensive agricultural development programme for Yobe North Senatorial District.
Senator Lawan’s focus on agriculture aligns with the Federal Government’s efforts to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on oil revenue. By empowering farmers and promoting agricultural productivity, Senator Lawan contributes to the sustainable development of Yobe State and the nation as a whole.
