INEC extends PVC collection deadline in Edo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a three-day extension for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in Edo State ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election.
The decision was made following a meeting with stakeholders in Benin City on Wednesday. Participants, including political party leaders, candidates, traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the media, appealed to INEC to allow more voters to collect their cards.
In a statement released after the meeting, INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu said, “We have granted a three-day extension from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th September 2024. The cards will be available for collection in our 18 Local Government offices across the State from 9am to 5pm daily.”
The commission urged all registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to take advantage of the extension. It also reiterated its policy of not allowing proxy collection of cards.
