Kano govt slams Ganduje with fresh corruption charges

The Kano state government has filed additional corruption charges against former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, alleging the diversion of N57 billion meant for the state’s 44 local government areas.
Ganduje, alongside co-defendants Murtala Garo, Lamin Sani, and Muhammad Takai, is accused of converting the funds into dollars for personal gain, purchasing luxury properties and assets.
The acquired properties include a serviced apartment in Kano, commercial properties in Dubai, a multi-billion naira hotel in Abuja, and filling stations in Kano.
This new charge follows earlier allegations of diverting N240 million, filed against Ganduje and former attorney-general Musa Lawan.
The Kano government has lined up 143 witnesses to testify against the defendants. Ganduje’s legal woes deepen, as he faces another lawsuit filed on April 4, involving his wife, son, and six others, alleging corruption and fund misuse. A court date for the new charges is yet to be announced.
