KWASU gets NUC accreditation for 18 programmes


The National Universities Commission has awarded full accreditation to 18 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by Kwara State University (KWASU), following the October/November 2023 accreditation exercise.
A letter dated June 6, 2024, from the Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, confirmed that six postgraduate and 12 undergraduate programmes had received full accreditation status valid for five years.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Saedat Aliyu, the acting Director of University Relations, made available to the press on Wednesday, the undergraduate programmes include Public Health, Film Studies and Production, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Fine and Applied Arts.
The others are Chemistry, Plant and Environmental Biology, Political Science, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
The postgraduate programmes include M.Sc. Accounting, M.Sc. Business Administration, Masters in Business Administration, M.Sc. Finance, M.Sc. Public Administration, and Masters in Public Administration.
In response to the accreditation result, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University praised the dedication of the university’s staff and management, stating that the outcome reflects their collective commitment.
Professor Jimoh praised the staff of the accredited programs and encouraged them to maintain their commitment to excellence, inspiring and training the next generation of professionals.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the Kwara State Government and the Ministry of Tertiary Education for their encouragement and assistance, which contributed significantly to the university’s successful accreditation.
