Land grabbing allegation: Group moves against fraudulent developers, defends Wike’s achievements

A prominent group in Abuja on the platform of Alliance for FCT Progress (AFFP), has publicly declared support for the leadership of Nyesom Wike in the Federal Capital Territory, vowing to stage a peaceful protest in support of the administration.
The group said Wike’s leadership has ushered in transformative changes across the FCT, restoring order to Abuja’s Master Plan, enhancing infrastructure, and fostering equitable land reforms, citing projects such as the Southern Parkway, the Abuja Rail Mass Transit system, and proactive approach to security which has strengthened public trust and set the FCT on a path of sustainable development.
Addressing a press conference Thursday in Abuja, coordinator of the group, Comrade Ugboma Stephen, said it is disheartening that some detractors have resorted to spreading baseless accusations of land grabbing against your administration.
According to Comrade Stephen, These false claims are deliberate attempts to tarnish the image of an administration that has displayed unwavering dedication to justice, equity, and progress. These baseless accusations are what have driven us, the Alliance for FCT Progress, to protest peacefully and tell the world that you, the Honourable Minister, are far above such unfounded allegations.
The group accused some developers in the FCT of unlawfully encroached on lands legally allocated to original allottees, disrupting development and fostering lawlessness.
He said: “We propose urgent actions to address this issue as follows: “Establish a task force comprising stakeholders, law enforcement, and civil society to investigate and resolve land-grabbing cases.
“Halt illegal activities, restore access to rightful allottees, and prevent further encroachments.
“Foster collaboration among residents, government, and law enforcement to uphold justice and fairness.”
To celebrate Wike’s achievements and counter these false narratives, the group vowed to hold a peaceful protest on Thursday, 28th November 2024, to highligh the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and governance, affirm commitment to justice and development, and rally traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, women, and residents from all six area councils to stand with Wike-led administration in the Territory.
“We assure the public that this demonstration will be peaceful and lawful. The AFFP stands ready to collaborate with your administration to ensure sustainable progress in the FCT.
“Your visionary leadership is reshaping Abuja into a world-class city. Together, let us build a brighter future for our great territory and our nation.”
