LASUTH begins investigation on fire incident


Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), to commence inquiries to ascertain the cause of a fire incident that broke out in the hospital’s information and communications technology unit.
In a statement released on Thursday in Lagos, Ms. Oluwaseyi Adewale, Head of LASUTH’s Public Affairs Department, on behalf of the management, disclosed the information.
The management stated that there were no injuries and that the fire had been extinguished out. They added that an investigation was still ongoing to determine how much the hospital’s infrastructure had been damaged.
“A mild fire started at the Information and Communications Technology Unit of the hospital at about 2 .00 p.m on Tuesday, 4th of April, 2024.
“The fire service arrived promptly and the fire has been completely put out, there were no casualties.
“We want to reassure the public and our esteemed clients that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their continued safety,” it said.
Likewise, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service claimed that by acting quickly to restrict the fire in the room where it started, they were able to stop it from spreading to other places.
Mrs Margaret Adeseye, Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, from are statement she said the incident started in the hospital’s ICT room, which is located in the Hematology Clinic of the Pre-Pharmacy building.
According to Adeseye, the agency’s Ikeja Fire Station responded right away after receiving the emergency warning at 14:22 p.m.
She said that no one was harmed in the successful extinguishment of the fire thanks to the responders’ diligent efforts.
