MC Oluomo elected NURTW national president

Former Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has been elected as the new National President of the Union.
His unopposed election took place on Saturday at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat along Osogbo/Ikirun Road, Osun State.
Delegates from the four southwestern states—Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti—gathered to cast their votes in the NURTW’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference, where Akinsanya was the sole candidate for the position. The election was overseen by acting National President, Aliyu Issa-Ore, who emphasized that the Union’s Constitution requires the designated zone to select its representative for the role and present them for confirmation at the national level.
In a statement delivered on Issa-Ore’s behalf by Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance at the NURTW National Headquarters in Abuja, the acting president expressed satisfaction with the Southwest zone’s adherence to the Union’s Constitution in nominating Akinsanya.
Alongside MC Oluomo’s election as National President, Tajudeen Agbede was chosen as the Vice President, Southwest, while Akeem Adeosun was appointed Trustee from the zone.
Following his inauguration, MC Oluomo called for unity and peace within the Union, vowing to promote cohesion among its members. “I have forgiven everyone who may have offended me, and I hope those I’ve wronged will extend the same courtesy,” he said, surrounded by his family and close associates.
“This union is our collective responsibility, and we must work to preserve it. We cannot allow anyone to undermine our means of livelihood,” he concluded, pledging a fresh chapter of cooperation and mutual support within the NURTW.
