Milan eye Leverkusen’s Xhaka

AC Milan are preparing to accelerate their interest in Swiss international Granit Xhaka, with a formal offer expected to follow in the coming days.
The Rossoneri view the experienced midfielder as a key component in their plans to reshape the squad ahead of the new season.
Talks are understood to be scheduled for next week as Milan look to gain a clearer picture of the financial and contractual terms that could make the move viable. The 32-year-old, who plays a central role at Bayer Leverkusen, has emerged as a priority target for the Italian side.
Xhaka’s composure, tactical awareness and leadership qualities have drawn admiration from Milan’s board, who are seeking to add both experience and technical assurance to a midfield undergoing significant changes.
His potential arrival comes as part of a broader strategy that has also seen the club linked with Luka Modric, in what appears to be a deliberate pivot towards proven, battle-hardened players.
For Leverkusen, the prospect of losing such a pivotal figure is a sobering one. With several of their title-winning stars attracting attention from across Europe, the Germans face an uncertain summer.
