Mourinho isn’t a racist – Drogba

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has come to the defense of Jose Mourinho after the Fenerbahce manager was accused of making racist remarks by his former club, Galatasaray.
The controversy erupted following a heated 0-0 draw between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, during which Mourinho reportedly described the Galatasaray bench as “jumping like monkeys.”
In response, Galatasaray announced their intention to pursue legal action, stating they would “initiate criminal proceedings concerning the racist statements made by Jose Mourinho” and submit official complaints to UEFA and FIFA.
Fenerbahce, however, dismissed the allegations as “pathetic slander.” Amid the growing tensions, Drogba took to social media to support his former manager.
Writing on X, the Ivorian football icon addressed Galatasaray directly, “Dear @GalatasaraySK … you know how proud I was to wear the yellow and red jersey and my love for the most decorated club in Turkey!!

“I’ve seen the recent comments about Jose Mourinho. Trust me when I tell you I have known Jose for xx years and he is not a racist and history (past and recent ) is there to prove it.”
Drogba ended his post by emphasizing his deep personal connection with Mourinho:
“How can my ‘Dad’ be a racist … come on guys.”
The former Chelsea striker and Mourinho shared a close relationship during their time together at Chelsea, where they won two Premier League titles across two different spells.
