Nigerian-born West African boxing champion tearfully pleads for help over house rent struggles

Nigerian professional boxer and West African champion, Prince Bob Alagoro, has taken to social media to make a heartbreaking appeal for help, revealing his struggle to pay rent despite proudly representing the country in international competitions.

A video of the emotional appeal, shared by user @General_Somto on X (formerly Twitter), shows the champion boxer fighting back tears as he detailed his current living situation and personal setbacks.

“I’m stuck where I live because I can’t afford rent, agreement, and agent fees,” Alagoro lamented. “Sometimes, I have the money for rent, but the commission and agreement fees stop me from moving forward. That’s why I’m still here.”

Alagoro, who proudly held up his championship belt in the video, expressed frustration over being celebrated abroad yet left to suffer at home. “No boxer in Nigeria has defeated me. I represented Nigeria in Burkina Faso and became the West African champion,” he said.

The boxer also opened up about being estranged from his family, alleging that his act of kindness—donating money to a motherless babies’ home sparked resentment. “My family hates me because I donated to the motherless. I’m ashamed to bring this belt out,” he said in a trembling voice.
