NNPP sweeps all chairmanship, councillorship seats in Kano LG elections

The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) has claimed an overwhelming victory in the Kano State local government elections held on Saturday, winning all the available chairmanship and councillorship positions.
Announcing the results at the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) headquarters, the Commission’s Chairman, Professor Sani Malumfashi, confirmed that the NNPP secured all 44 local government chairmanship seats as well as all 484 councillorship positions contested across the state.
Professor Malumfashi stated, “The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has fulfilled its constitutional mandate of planning, organizing, coordinating, and conducting a successful local government election in Kano State, Nigeria. The exercise was largely peaceful and successful in all ramifications.”
He went on to appreciate the key stakeholders involved, particularly security agencies, media organizations, political party leaders, civil society groups, religious and community leaders, as well as youth and women organizations, for their cooperation and commitment to the democratic process.
“The peaceful conduct of the election is a testament to its public acceptability in terms of credibility, fairness, and transparency,” Malumfashi said. He commended the people of Kano State for their unwavering support, prayers, and positive response to the democratic exercise.
Thediscovererng.com gathered that the election saw six political parties participating, namely Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), Accord (ACCORD), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the NNPP, with the latter emerging victorious across all categories.
Professor Malumfashi emphasized that the successful conduct of the elections marked a significant achievement for grassroots democracy in Kano State.
