NYSC opens up on N70,000 minimum wage for corps members

Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has promised serving corps members that their monthly allowance will be increased once civil servants start receiving the new minimum wage.
He made this assurance while addressing corps members at the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari and the Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.
General Ahmed acknowledged the significant contributions of corps members to Nigeria’s socioeconomic development, emphasizing that their selfless efforts cannot be overstated. He encouraged them to utilize their service year to develop themselves, plan for their future, and strive for greater heights.
Additionally, the DG advised corps members to take advantage of the NYSC’s skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program to acquire vocational skills that will enable them to become self-reliant.
Thediscovererng.com reports that this advice comes on the heels of the federal government’s recent agreement on a N70,000 new national minimum wage with the Organised Labour, which has been passed into law by the House of Assembly and assented to by President Bola Tinubu.
Corps members can look forward to a increased monthly allowance soon, thanks to the NYSC DG’s assurance. This development is a welcome relief, considering the current economy reality in the country.
