Ooni of Ife’s twins receive royal welcome

In a joyous celebration, Prince Adesina and Princess Adesewa Ogunwusi, the twins of Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, arrived at their father’s palace in Ile-Ife on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
The twins were warmly received by their father, Ooni Ogunwusi, alongside royal family members, traditional rulers, high chiefs, chief priests, and palace stakeholders.
Traditional rites and customs of Ile-Ife were performed to welcome the twins, including supplications by Araba Agbaye, Global Head of Ifa Cult, and High Chief Obadio Farotimi Faloba, Custodian of the Oduduwa shrine.
Lowa Adimula of Ile-Ife, High Chief Adesiyan, led prayers for the twins, their parents, Ile-Ife, and the Yoruba race, using emblems and symbols of the Yoruba culture.
Obalufe of Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura, invoked ancestral guidance and protection for the twins, hailing Ooni Ogunwusi as a trailblazer, being the first Ooni to have twins in thousands of years.
A sacred ritual saw Ooni Ogunwusi take Prince Adesina to the ancient Ile Igbo chamber, where Oduduwa once lived, to commune with ancestors and introduce the prince to the Ooni’s lineage.
This historic event marked a significant milestone in the Ooni’s dynasty, celebrating the arrival of the newest royal twins.
