Osimhen leads Galatasaray to victory with record-breaking performance

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has made a remarkable impact in the Turkish Süper Lig, quickly establishing himself as Galatasaray’s top scorer.
In a thrilling 3-2 victory over second-place Samsunspor, Osimhen’s performance solidified his reputation, netting two crucial goals and delivering a heartfelt tribute to his teammate, Mauro Icardi.
Just three minutes into the match, Osimhen scored his first goal with a powerful header, setting an early lead for Galatasaray against their closest league rival. His celebration was a touching tribute to Icardi, who was recently ruled out for the season with an ACL injury. Osimhen held up Icardi’s jersey and mimicked his iconic celebration, showcasing solidarity with the Argentine star.
Osimhen’s second goal, which came in the 55th minute, was equally timely, restoring Galatasaray’s lead after Samsunspor had briefly leveled the score. The goal added to his impressive tally, bringing him to six goals and two assists in just six league appearances this season. Michy Batshuayi also contributed a goal, sealing the win for Galatasaray despite a resilient two-goal response from Samsunspor.
With this performance, Osimhen set a new Süper Lig record as the first player to score or assist in each of his first six matches—all consecutive. His consistent form shows why he is regarded as one of the world’s most lethal strikers, and he has quickly become a fan favorite at Galatasaray with his powerful presence on the field.
