PDP chieftain regains freedom after 6-day ordeal

Benedict Akika, a prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state and loyalist of Governor Seyi Makinde, has been released by his kidnappers.
This comes six days after he was abducted from his home in Olorunda, Ibadan, by unknown gunmen.
According to sources, Chief Akika has been taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. The circumstances surrounding his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain unclear at this time.
The news of his release brings relief to his family, friends, and political associates, who had been holding interdenominational prayers for his safe return.
As the investigation into his kidnapping continues, it is hoped that those responsible will be brought to justice.
