PDP secures 10 LGAs in Plateau LG elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs) following the Plateau State Local Government elections held on Wednesday.

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) declared the results on Thursday in Jos, the state capital.

PLASIEC Chairman, Plangji Cishak, announced that the PDP secured victories in Bassa, Jos South, Riyom, Kanam, Barkin Ladi, Mikang, Jos East, Langtang South, Quaan Pan, and Shendam LGAs. However, results from seven remaining LGAs — Bokkos, Jos North, Pankshin, Kanke, Mangu, Langtang North, and Wase — are still being collated.

The announcement comes amid reports that several polling units across the state did not conduct elections due to a shortage of electoral materials and officials. Despite these challenges, the election proceeded in other areas, with the PDP taking the lead in the councils declared so far.

As the collation of results continues, political observers and residents await the outcome from the remaining LGAs.
